Find your chi at Brahman Hills

Find your chi at Brahman Hills

The name Brahman Hills to every Hindu evokes images of a spiritual retreat and home to the sacred Brahman cows which are worshipped.Brahman Hills proved to be a retreat one that would help me find my chi and so much more. Situated on the famous Nottingham Road which is home to the Midlands Meander. When I told friends I was off for the weekend to the meander instantly they all asked if I was off to play with the cows.Technically yes and no.

For the weekend, I was joining six phenomenal women on this media trip.Having met only one of them before and communicated with the others online I was a tad bit nervous. But within 30 seconds of meeting everyone I felt at ease and like I was hanging out with friends. Our itinerary for the weekend was  filled with lots to see , do and eat. Included were tips on packing warm clothing , costumes and shoes for a hike such a mix bag and I was a bit apprehensive about the 8km hike considering I am not the most fit individual in the world. We arrived at Brahman Hills at golden hour and everything looked IG worthy as the suns rays started to set.

The property has a combination of hotel rooms and self catering cottages. Our home for the weekend were two beautiful fully fitted cottages next door to each other with wait for it a beautiful deck with each cottage having their own jacuzzi.

The ladies and I did not need much to convince us to jump into the jacuzzi with some bubbles and relax before dinner. It seemed the universe had conspired and brought us all together for a much-needed weekend of Bliss at Brahman Hills. After spending some time relaxing and unwinding we headed off to dinner at the main hotel.

On the menu was a wide variety of dishes and a very impressive vegetarian menu.I opted for the Lamb Chops which were done to perfection and beautifully plated. It bite was a taste sensation of flavours and textures, there seemed to be a party happening in my mouth. To end a fantastic start to the weekend dessert was a gooey chocolate fondant that was a lava of sweetness that sent me to cloud nine.Bellys full ,temperature dropping we headed back to our cottages for bed.It was such a pleasure getting into bed and finding the electric blanket on.Not long after that I was far far away in the land of nod.

As an early riser ,my sleep broke at the crack of down and on drawing open my curtains I noticed a group of antelope just chilling outside my room in the crisp morning. After a few pics it was time to get ready and get the day started and this included our hike. We were served a continental  breakfast in the beautiful  facility.Such a fantastic spot perfect for a small gathering. And then it was time for the hike.

I was not looking forward to this but decided I would give it a try. There were 3 staff members who joined us.Melusi was such a gem ,he walked with me slowly all the way and yes I completed 5,5km.Along the way Melusi told me about the property and pointed out various animals along the way including the famous Brahman cows.It felt like I had my own private trainer for my hike.On completing my hike I felt such a great sense of achievement as this was totally out of my comfort zone.

Totally starving after our hike we headed off for lunch to The Midlands Kitchen which is literally next to Brahman Hills, on the N3 Nottingham Rd offramp,  https://www.facebook.com/TheMidlandsKitchen/  Check out my review here to find out what I ate https://spicegoddess.co.za/lets-go-eat-midlands-kitchen/

After lunch were we could barely move I headed off with the lovely Gaynor to experience some of the Midlands Meander. As this was my first time in the area I was like a kid on a school trip as we went along. From Chocolate Heaven, Craft Breweries,Notties Hotel and Linga Lapa I saw a variety of unique places and I will defo be back to explore more.A few hours later we headed back to relax before our Food & Wine Pairing dinner in a wine cellar.Dressed up for dinner we made our way to the main hotel before descending to 89 on Copper for our fancy dinner.

In a cosy and rather intimate venue filled with loads of vino we settled for dinner. There were 2 options for every course with a veggie option in each course.Delicious food,well-selected wine, amazing company in a wonderful location life can not get better than this. Each dish was executed to a very high standard incorporating several textures and flavours. The evening ended with happy souls knowing we had fed our body and mind. Not too long after we got back to the cottage Mr Sandman called us to the land of nod.

The next morning we woke up to find a herd of Zebras posing in our driveway. All I wanted to do was go and cuddle one of them. The zebras seemed to be waiting for us to take their pictures.A quick breakfast stop at the Midlands Kitchen and then we started some meanderings.I am amazed at just how much there is to see and do on the Meander and staying at Brahman Hills makes it the perfect sense.

We were all awaiting the afternoon as we headed to the Brahman Hills Spa for some pampering. The building that the Spa is housed in is rather eye-catching and the blues tones and hues are found in the decor of this haven of pampering.Friendly faces greeted us as we entered and then a light lunch awaited us before our spa treatments.

I was drawn to the dark blue and decided to have a manicure using that same colour.Relaxing with a glass of bubbly ,chatting away with the ladies while getting my nails done was indeed a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

After my manicure ,it was time for my full body exfoliation and massage.Going downstairs I felt like I was in a ship and entering a sanctuary of calm. With the change of season an exfoliation is perfect to get rid of dry skin coupled with a full body massage my body really appreciated this pamper session.

Brahman Hills feels like a bit of heaven on Earth. From delicious food, too long walks in nature to the indulgence of bubbles while not forgetting the most helpful and kindest staff there is nothing here but chi for your soul.
As the weekend drew to a close it was clearly evident that we all had formed a bond with each other not forgetting loads of memories to add to our cupboard of happiness. The picture below sums up the bond of friendship.

Thank you Brahman Hills for helping me find my chi. This weekend away was a breath of much-needed fresh air that my soul needed.Ladies you all amazing and I am proud to call you my tribe.
