Yesterday was the second episode of the new SABC 2 programme.Mela has replaced the popular Eastern Mosaic. The new show is vibrant, colourful, modern and has a fab team of presenters.
The word Mela translates into a festival and celebration and this show is definately all of that and more.
The show is presented by a gorgeous set of presenters @Tevin_Naidu , @FadeenMia @YudhikaSujanani @mishalmookery @Zakeeyapatel @KajalBagwandeen and @jailoshni.Each of the presenters are very talented in their own fields and bring their special magic to Mela. The format of the show includes a weekly Yoga lesson which honestly makes me want to pull out a Yoga mat and strike a pose.Yudhika Sujanani is the very talented resident chef of the show who is no stranger to our screens, she now owns her own eatery in Fourways called Holi Cow.She brings her twist on traditional Indian dishes which entice one to get cooking, last week she made Paneer(Indian Cottage Cheese) and this week we were treated to a rather moorish baked delight of scones which were made with butter, fresh cream and eggs then served with elachi fresh cream.
Another feature of Mela is the Rising stars feature which showcases people in South Africa doing amazing things in their every day lives.Like every girl fashion is what I love , Mela has created a great series of looking at Indian Couture from the catwalk and then having popular local designers like Haroun Hansrot and Nadine Pillay show us how we can create those designs locally.Often we see outfits on catwalks around the world fall in love with them but find it difficult to recreate.
Mela truly is a festival feeding all our senses with the colours, tastes and music of Incredible India. So don’t forget to tune in next Sunday to catch your dose of Mela.Let me know your thoughts.
