Find your Bliss here
During May this year ,before Mother’s Day I received an invite from Bliss Boutique Hotel. I was gutted that I was in Durban as it looked like it would be an amazing pampering event. Little did I know a few months later I would be finding my bliss at this beautiful 5 star boutique hotel.
Our night at Bliss Boutique Hotel was rather special as we asked to invite three other bloggers to join Lerato and myself. Now how fun is that a girls weekend in the city. The day before we all checked in we got an email with our reservation asking us to download an app to check in. The Tech Geek within me was super excited as I had read of this kind of apps in the Middle East used in Hotels. The App once downloaded allowed me to check in 24 hours in advance. Now for the best part. Often keycards get scrambled because of mobile phones which mean you have to head down to reception to get a new key. But having an electronic key on your phone app means you never have this problem. Pretty impressed I was already. Directions lead us to a pretty suburb which at first I thought we were in the wrong place as this was a residential area with beautiful houses. But then the voice announced that we had arrived at our destination and like a beacon of hope the brightly coloured yellow front door just popped out.
The property has parking space in a lock up garage area and outside but within the secured premises. We were rather excited to see our blogging friends and start our fun day.Our luggage was taken to our rooms while relaxed with some coffee and divine cheesecake. The balcony had stunning views of Table Mountain and a very inviting swing.
My room was on the ground floor with the most comfy bed ever. Falling into this bed wrapped up in my fluffy white hotel robe felt like I was in heaven and floating blissfully away on a marshmallow while sipping on my Nespresso.
There was no time to lay down as we had a full day planned which included a trip to the Bay Harbour Market, which was all sorts of amazing. On returning from the market tired and full we all retired to our rooms for a bit of down time before dinner and a private Whiskey Tasting.
After a long shower I headed off to my marshmallow oops meant my bed for some much-needed rest before dinner. I felt so relaxed and blissful just wrapped up in bed flicking channels that I almost thought about missing dinner but then I realised I needed to sample the delicious food created by Chef Dean. Also a trend I noticed about Chefs is that most good chefs have great ink work and Chef Dean definitely had incredible ink work.
It was hard work getting out of bed and glamming up for dinner but boy oh boy was I glad I did. We were treated to Bevan the Bartender making us the Signature Bliss Martinis. This man is talented and lets just say I could easily drink a jug of that Martini as it is so delicious.
Dinner was at the in-house restaurant called Beach and Bites where Chef Dean works his magic. Like most eateries in Cape Town , Bliss offer a special winter menu. The menu offers a great selection of dishes for all tastes. For starters I had opted for a delicious soup with the most delicious bread followed by a Beef Lasange ( the ultimate comfort food) and finishing off with my all favourite dessert Creme Brulee.
A private Whiskey Tasting was arranged for us. Here we not only tasted some rather expensive bottles of Whiskey but also learnt about the history of Whiskey. After an interesting experience we all headed off to bed. I for one could not wait to get into that fluffy robe and into bed. On entering the room I found the heating on and a chocolate and bottle of water on my beside table. After a quick shower I slipped into that amazing robe (now I know why people often steal bathrobes from hotels lol) used my Nespresso machine and then got into my deluxe bed. Very soon I headed to the land of nod.
After an extremely restful night’s sleep I woke up rejuvenated and ready for the day ahead. Quickly packing up I headed upstairs to meet everyone for Breakfast. A breakfast bar was set up with a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and fruit juice. A hot breakfast is offered from the menu ,it did not take me too long to decide I wanted my favourite Middle Eastern breakfast dish. Besides eating this dish Shakshouka ,I love cooking it Shakshouka my way.
After a few more pictures we gathered our stuff and said goodbye to our friends and the amazing staff at Bliss Boutique Hotel. This hotel is a slice of Bliss that we all need. The location and setting are perfect for a staycation in the city ,find out how Be a Tourist in your City. Bliss is the ideal location just 20 minutes from the city centre for Bridal and Baby Showers.
