#Review of #SolanaBeachHotel #SeeMauritius
On the 20th March 2015 we flew to Mauritius to celebrate my brother’s wedding.
My brother had dealt with all the bookings and chose for us to stay at the fantastic 4 Star Solana Beach Hotel which is part of the Southern Cross Hotel Group. The packaged deal was booked with Melissa from Flight Centre in Toti. The booking was not simple as it was for a large group of 20 with people flying via JHB and some requiring accommodation only this was no easy task and that’s besides planning a wedding on top of it all.My brother selected an all inclusive packaged with included all meals and local drinks, softdrinks and bottled water and airport transfers. With this package each room was given a R2000 resort voucher which could be spent at the spa or shop on the premises.
My aunt and her family from London arrived in Mauritius as we were getting ready to fly from Durban. We arrived later that evening into a very humid Mauritius we were met at the Airport by 2 taxi’s to accomodate us and a cooler box of iced bottled cold water which was very welcoming. Our journey to Solana beach hotel was an hour and a half away from the Airport to the area of Belle Mare.
On arrival at the hotel the very friendly staff greeted us with welcome drinks and hot face towels to freshen up with. The decor instantly made you feel as if you were entering another zone.Check in was rather quick and then we were shown to our rooms and shown the features including the WiFi passwords.
The rooms were large and clean with lovely decor. My room which I shared with my cousin was on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the beach. After we quickly freshned up we headed off to supper. As my gran has difficulty walking the hotel provided us with a wheelchair for her and mum and gran had a ground floor room. There are ramps for wheelchair access to the restaurants and bar areas. The waiters and staff were fantastic in always helping us with the wheelchair.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served daily in the Cinnamon eatery which was in a buffet style. Each evening there is a themed night which foods from that country and that evening the entertainment is all matched to the theme.A variety of foods for all taste buds were on offer.Mum and my aunt’s family are vegetarian so for dinner each nice the chef would prepare for them a trio of freshly cooked vegetarian meals now that’s good service. The staff were always checking on us and made sure there was nothing we would want that we didn’t have.
And now we come to the wedding part(seperate blog post on wedding to follow), Ranjeni from Solana met with my brother and his now wife the day after we arrived to sort out wedding details, like venue, flowers, reception and all sorts.Ranjeni,
was fantastic in arranging all that we needed. Our family friend from Mauritius had visited the hotel prior to see Ranjeni and discuss wedding arrangements. So when we got there everything was literally done. The wedding was the first traditional Indian wedding that took place at the hotel.
Now been a wedding we had several requirements and requests which were seen to by the fantastic team of Solana.A day before the wedding we decided on some pampering and headed off to the Spa.Roshnee the Spa manageress and her team of fantastic therapists really gave us great service. The spa also provides hairdressing facilities which we took advantage of for the wedding.
There are ample activities which are free that will keep you occupied at the hotel.I could have very easily spent all 7 days there without wanting to venture out.
The front of house staff were fantastic in arranging us transport , putting us in touch with tour operators and providing us with facilities for printing.Check out was effortless and no dramas considering we had such a large group leaving at two different times of the day.
Solana Beach Hotel a big heartfelt thank you and gratitude to all your staff for making our stay amazing and my brother’s wedding beautiful. You guys made us feel at home and a part of the Solana family. We will defo be back to visit soon.
Be Inspired!
