Pampering the African way
As a Brand Ambassador for Mangwanani African Spa,I was given two vouchers two weeks ago. The vouchers were for a full body exfoliation and a full body massage. Perfect timing as last week, I was off work for a week. I decided to spoil mum and off we went to have some pampering the African way.
I had picked the Elangeni Hotel in Durban for our pampering session. Mangwanani has a Boutique Spa within the hotel that is open to the public.
On entering, we were welcomed in the most beautiful and tranquil set up. We were taken into the changing area to get ready for our treatments. Mum and I changed into the lovely Mangwanani gowns before entering our therapy room. The room had 2 beds which was good so mum and I could spend some time together bonding.
Two lovely therapists attended to us and made us feel very  calm and relaxed. Our treatments were explained to us and we were offered a choice of oils. We both opted for the revitalising oil. This oil was a blend of mint, pine and rosemary. The reason we choose this oil was because it was said to leave you energized and refreshed which was exactly what we needed.
The lights were dimmed and soft music filtered into the room creating the feeling of us been in the forest hearing the birds chirping and the waterfall. First up was the full body exfoliation. Salt was used as the base of this treatment and possibly something citrus added to the scrub. For once I actually just switched off my phone and just drifted off.
So why exfoliate and why with salt?
Salt has been know to healing properties and is a good antiseptic. The scrubs are made with rough salt. Dead skin cells are removed allowing for improved circulation and it unclogs the pores on your skin. A glow is revealed after a scrub and this allows the regeneration of new skin cells. Especially after winter an exfoliation is needed to prepare our body for the warm weather days.
I tend to suffer with knots in my shoulders as neck. They can become very painful and even at times inflammed. So for me having a massage and exfoliation is a way to get ease those knots up.
After the scrub we were told to shower and return to our treatment rooms.Getting up off the bed, I felt as if I was rolling about in sand. While showering I could feel how much softer my skin felt and not to forget lighter.
Our lovely therapists in the mean time were cleaning up the room in preparation of our massage. There was salt everywhere.Sorry ladies :/
On returning to our treatment room, our revitalising massage began.I drifted off into the African forest and let my therapist manipulate the tough knots in my back. This was pure bliss.
Massage has several benefits including improving circulation, stress relief,a detox and even helps in cellulite removal. My massage did all of that and much more.I could really get used to this and am looking forward to experiencing the other Mangwanani treatments.
Mum and I left feeling relaxed and so much lighter. We had a lovely morning together in a beautiful environment.Thank you Mangwanani for the spoils.

The one special that looks amazing is the Mother and Daughter one.Book it to spoil your mum or grandma. And enjoy a pamper session together bonding over some Tea and Cake.
