Cafe Vigour Winter Menu

Cafe Vigour Winter Menu

With the onset of winter one craves comfort food and if you are Indian nothing beats a spicy curry to warm you up. Cafe Vigour at Suncoast has taken this into consideration and created a Winter Menu inspired by Durban flavours.

Cafe Vigour is situated in the Suncoast Complex. This Bistro style of coffee shop offers a menu for all tastebuds. This is not fine dining but a casual relaxing eatery for a quick bite.

So when an invite popped into my inbox I was keen to try out the Durban flavour inspired menu. I always tend to ask my waiter/waitress about what specials they have and their most popular dish on their menu. The friendly waitress suggested the popular Butter Chicken or the Prawn Pasta. Now I love Butter Chicken and love cooking this dish The Story of Butter Chicken. While glancing through the menu which included a variety of Pizzas and wait for it a Mutton Curry and a Butter Chicken pizza.

For starters we decided to share the Vegetarian Basket. Included with two dipping sauces were Crumbed Halloumi, Chinese Spring Rolls and Cheese & Sweetcorn Samosas. All were freshly prepared , hot and crispy. A lil steep at R65 a portion but it was ok to spilt for two.

After a chat with the manager on duty Reshlin I opted for the Butter Chicken. Mum had the Veg Toastie with Chips and a salad. The Butter Chicken is their most popular dish and in May 648 portions were sold. Did I  need more convincing ? NOPE!

Verdict ?

Mum enjoyed her Veg Toastie which was filled with Mushrooms,Onions and Cheese. The Toastie is actually a Roti and is stuffed and grilled. The portion was too large so we had to take a doggy bag. Costing R65 for the Toastie and R70 for the Greek Salad. This two could easily be split between two people for a light snack.
Now for my Butter Chicken, the curry portion was HUGE and I did bring home more than half of my meal. The Butter Chicken is served with Basmati Rice or Roti ,Papad ,a veg pickle ,sambals and a yoghurt raita. The fillet chicken was well spiced and was so tender, it is easy to over cook chicken fillet. The sauce was smooth and not too overly spiced. I love that the Basamati Rice was garnished with crispy fried aromatic Curry leaves. Costing R90 a portion and considering the size this dish was well worth it.
To end my meal all I wanted was a coffee BUT was told that there was something special for us to try out. I did not expect what was brought to our table.A thing of beauty ….a foodie freak moment..

Are you ready ?

This new edition to the Cafe Vigour Menu at Suncoast will be served in a smaller version. Introducing ” Coffee Chocolate Bomb” it is an iced coffee milkshake served with crushed/ whole Oreos , marshmellows, chocolate brownies , fresh cream ,maple syrup, hot chocolate and chocolate crunchie. The perfect way to end a meal. This portion was for two and we did not finish it.At first I thought this would be sickly sweet BUT no it was not.
The actual size is half of this and costs R60 which is well priced and it contains everything mentioned above. #LoveAtFirstBite  #CafeVigour #Suncoast
What a marvellous way to end a meal !

Thank you Cafe Vigour for hosting us.
Be Inspired!
