Rajah invites you to join Masterchef South Africa and Ultimate Braai Master judge Chef Benny Masekwameng and cook and food blogger Lorraine Maharaj as they share their captivating food stories while cooking mouth-watering meals.As South Africans we have a very rich and diverse food culture that is a melting pot of delish.
Our lead curry masters will not only share curry tips that will improve curry lovers’ techniques but the story behind their recipes and how they have evolved from generation to generation.
“The one thing that I learnt from my mom is the love for people and that food brings people together, people from all different walks of life”, says Chef Benny.Such a great statement as my fondest food memories come from my grandmother and the kitchen as it was the centre of our home.
Lorraine also sites her mother as the person who taught her various curry secrets. “I remember my mom used to always add samp and beans to her lamb curry so we exclude the potatoes and add samp and beans.”Meals prepared from memory now makes are truly understand that meals were created to stretch and feed a family with not much in the cupboards.Traditional Indian dishes were given an African twist based on the local ingredients that were available.
After watching the masterclass curry lovers will leave with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the craft and the ingredients.Cooking is a love language and understanding ingredients and spices are key in creating a mouth watering meal.
