Game Drives and Picnics at Tala Game Reserve

Game Drives and Picnics at Tala Game Reserve

An hour out of Durban, you will find Tala Game Reserve. A wildlife sanctuary set in 3000 hectares of land which is home to 380 bird species, 20 species of antelope , hippos , giraffes , zebras, wildebeest, rhino and buck.I was blown away with the adventure we were about to embark on and just how close to home it was.

Mum and I headed off on our lil African adventure to Tala Game Reserve during the week. The reason we were there was to sample the new picnic basket and go on a game drive. I felt like a lil kid that morning going on a school trip as I got ready for our adventure. I am a big supporter of travelling locally and discovering the area we live in , so when I was invited to Tala Game Reserve having not visited there before I was rather excited to say the least.

On entering , the reserve we were welcomed by the Zebras who posed while I took their photos. * NOTE you are not allowed to get out of your vehicle. Every side I turned I could see Mother Nature’s babies waking up and going for a morning stroll to the watering hole and what a beautiful sight this was.I felt like I was in the heart of Africa.

Normally when one plans a road trip with a picnic often we tend to forget something at home. But with Tala Game Reserve taking away all the hassle with their Gourmet Picnic basket it makes the idea of going on a Game Drive with a delicious basket of Gourmet treats very attractive.
Our very knowledgeable guide Maxwell took us out on a Game Drive giving us the background of the Tala  property and the animals. It was a marvellous experience being so close to these animals. We then headed off to the picnic spot so we could sample the Gourmet Picnic Basket.A beautiful spread of all the offerings that can be selected for your own customised picnic was prepared for us to sample. The basket is really a Gourmet Picnic basket with all sorts of delicious offerings.

I love that Tala has launched this Gourmet Picnic basket as it takes the hassle out of carrying food with you. As a kid I recall road trips with the parents and mum always packing a basket of food for “Padkos” . The sandwiches would end up soggy ,salad would get limp from the heat and the basket would take up so much space. This new addition makes going on a road trip a total pleasure and an ideal date idea.My only negative would be that more vegetarian options need to be added to the options.
Tala Game Reserve is not only home to so many beautiful animals but also offers wedding venues, accommodation and conference venues. The perfect getaway just outside Durban that can be done as a day trip as well.
Would you be interested in doing something like this ?
Be Inspired !
Ciao

ps.Mum and I were both guests at Tala but as always my views are my own.
