50 Shades Of Black
Last night I attended am amazing event where local designers showcased their creations for a worthy cause.
Two months ago I was approached by Varshan Sookhun to work with him on this project.Instantly I said yes! as all proceeds were going to the KZN Blind and Deaf Society. The weeks that followed included tons of phone calls, emails, tweets and random hours of the day and night.
As it all came together I approached my friends at the Geness Foundation, Sunil and his gorgeous wife Dr Sheena to be apart of the event. This power couple with a heart of gold and the ever willingness to give back to society especially in their hometown joined up with Varshan in hosting the event. The generous Geness foundation handed over a cheque for R30 000 to the KZN Blind and Deaf society.
The event was held at the lovely Urban Park Hotel where VIP guests were treated to drinks and yummy treats including the most divine Burfee ice cream. There was lots of catching up with old and new friends with lots of cameras all over.
Most of the guests were dressed in 50 Shades of Black and added to the glam and glitz of the event.
Durban you made me so proud with all the amazing designers who showcased their work. These included Kujula Mtambo; Meriska Gareeb; Vijay Shah; Kathryn De Jesus; Yolandie Wessels; Sarojini Moodley; Thembeka Vilakazi and Quinton Naidoo. Make note of these names fashionistas.
Adding to the Glam of the event Ashish, a well known Isidingo star, Maurice aka Calvin and Clint from Scandal were our auctioneers for the night. My generous and much talented friend Akshar Choudree donated a stunning piece and was sold for R40k with the money going to the charity of the event.
There were so many friends I caught up with from Soneshan Gounden (Mr India SA 2013), Kajal Bhajwandeen , Neil Ramataur, Yasantha Naidoo. Jeevi Pillay and more. It was a great evening out for an even greater cause.
So proud and honoured to be apart of #TeamBlack.
